March 3-7

At School:

In Math: We continued to work on estimation and learned how to problem solve multiplcation and division word problems using R.I.C.E. Ask your child what R.I.C.E stands for!

In Literacy: We read Chapter 2 of Tales of the Fourth Grade Nothing and explored the meaning of the word "tale". We determined that Peter Hatcher is the narrator, sharing the tales
of his own life. Students were also introduced to Opinion Writing.

In Word Work: We focused on words that have the prefix "inter".

In Social Studies: We discussed the importance of story telling for First Nations people and how Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park is a fascinating place, where First Nations people carved petroglyphs and pictographs into the rock.

In Wellness: Students learned about the 4 different zones of regulation and how we can group together feelings to make it easier to understand, talk about and regulate them.

Our Kindergarten buddies are learning about animals! To help them, students went on a scavenger hunt around the school to find animal tracks and figure out which animals made them. Afterwards, they enjoyed some playtime with their buddy.

Looking Forward:

-Next week's words are: assistant, dominant, applicant, fragrant, relevant, independent, confident, evident, magnificent, benevolent, display, delay, array, holiday, decay, doorway, Saturday, highway, birthday, hooray
