At School: Students wrapped up their swimming lessons! It was wonderful to see how much their skills improved over the past two weeks! In Literacy: We started procedural writing by brainstorming topic ideas and getting started on our rough drafts. In Math:   We continued practicing how to simplify fractions and how to convert between fractions, decimals, and percentages. We also worked on solving real-life problems involving percentages. In Art:  We started creating 3D Doodle Bugs! In Social Studies:   We explored the history of early settlers in Alberta. In Science:   We began our unit on Plant and Animal Structures. Students learned what an organism is and worked together to classify various local organisms based on their appearance, habitat, and physical structures. We also planted beans!  Looking Forward: Look out for a letter in your child's backpack regarding our upcoming Settlers and Suitcases Project in June. Students came home today with their material...

At School: Students had a great first week of swimming lessons! We will be heading to the pool again Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday next week.  We had the Mckenzie Highlands Band perform for us today! They played some familiar songs from Minecraft, Star Wars, and How to Train Your Dragon. We had a wonderful time listening to them! Twin Day was on Thursday! In Math:  We began our Fractions and Percentages unit by exploring equivalent fractions and learning how to simplify them by dividing both the numerator and denominator by their greatest common factor. We continue to work on our basic multiplication facts daily.  In Literacy:  We read examples of concrete poems and created our own! In Social Studies:  We explored the role of missionaries and the development of Francophone communities in Alberta. In Science:  We compared and contrasted the Lunar Calendar with the International Standard Calendar and spent time reviewing for our upcoming unit assessment on ...
