April 28-May 2

 At School:

In Literacy: We shared our Pip stories with a partner and read chapter 8 of Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing. During our daily reading block, students continue to build their reading skills through a variety of activities. They will either read in a small group, independently read a chapter book, work on writing, or practice typing with a program called Typing Club. Please continue to support your child's progress by having them read chapter books aloud at home for 30 minutes each evening. This daily practice helps strengthen their reading fluency.

In Word Work: We explored the prefix micro- and how it changes the meaning of a word to indicate something very small, such as in microgram and microscope. We also worked on using commas correctly when writing lists.

In Math: We wrapped up our decimal place value unit. Students practiced rounding decimals to the nearest whole number, tenth, and hundredth. They learned how to identify place values and use them to decide whether to round a digit up or keep it the same. These skills help strengthen their overall number sense and estimation strategies.

To wrap up Autism Awareness Month, we had Erin Seibert join us to read a special story written by students in our EES program, sharing their personal stories and experiences with Autism. Students were very respectful, and shared their thoughtful ideas about how they can show kindness and understanding to people with Autism.

Looking Forward:

We are collecting empty large Pringle cans for an upcoming Science project. If you have any, please send them to school with your child. Thank you for your help!
