At School: We wrapped up a few projects, including our How to Escape From an Alien Planet procedural writing and Settlers and Suitcases , and spent time reflecting on the year while working on our Grade 4 memory books in our visual journals. We also enjoyed a community walk with the other Grade 4 classes, took part in Sports Day, spent time with our kindergarten buddies one last time, explored the robots, watched a movie, and celebrated at our farewell assembly.                             Please click here to read our curriculum letter.  Curriculum Letter from January to June Your child will be greatly missed at MTS. At School: Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Grade 4 Farewell on Friday—it was wonderful to celebrate together!  In Math:  We explored the geometric properties of polygons and learned how to classify triangles by their angles and side lengths. In Literacy:  Students wrote a paragraph about why they are a star. They reflected on their unique strengths, accomplishments and positive qualities. This activity encouraged self-awareness and helped students celebrate what makes them special!  Also, we are currently writing a procedural piece called How to Escape from an Alien Planet. In Social Studies:  We are working on our Settlers and Suitcases  heritage project. Students designed their own suitcases and added personal photos with captions inside. In Wellness:   We discussed the changes that occur during puberty and explored healthy ways to cope with them. In Art : Students created their own personal star to showcase at our Grade 4 Farewell on Fri...

At School: We had a wonderful trip to the zoo on Friday, where we explored various animal exhibits and learned about Burrowing Owls. Math:   We explored angle relationships and practiced measuring angles with a protractor. We also examined the geometric properties of different polygons, such as equal or unequal side lengths, number of angles, complementary and supplementary angles, as well as parallel and perpendicular lines. In Literacy:   We compared and contrasted the ways plants and animals get their food, and we also wrote about our exciting zoo field trip on Tuesday! In Science:   We learned about the different stimuli that plants can sense and how they respond to them. We also explored how animals use their sensory organs to find food, avoid danger, and interact with other animals. Looking Forward: Join us for our Grade Four Farewell on Friday, June 20 at 11:00 a.m. in the gym, as we celebrate our amazing Grade Fours! We’ll be rehearsing on Thursday afternoon to pr...

At School:  In Math:  W e wrapped up our Fractions and Percentages unit and began exploring Geometry and Angles. Students reviewed their understanding of right, obtuse, and acute angles, as well as polygons and their geometric properties. We went on a scavenger hunt around the school to find and identify various angles, shapes, and lines in the real world. In Literacy:   We revised, edited, and published our procedural writing pieces, focusing on clarity and organization. We also continued to develop our skills in comparing and contrasting by examining similarities and differences between two topics. In Science:   We investigated the external structures of plants and animals, such as stems, leaves, fur, and beaks, and examined how each structure plays an important role in helping the organism survive, grow, and meet its basic needs. In Social Studies:   We continued learning about early settlers in Alberta and deepened our understanding of treaties by researchin...
